South Pole Sir Edmund Hillary Jan. 20th, 1958 : The New Zealand team led by Sir Edmund Hillary and British team led by Dr Vivian "Bunny" Fuchs who are members of a joint Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic expedition and set off from opposite ends of the South Pole last November met up at The South Pole.
