Russian helicopter on Aleppo aid mission shot down, all 5 aboard dead : A Russian Mi-8 helicopter has been shot down by ground fire in Syria following delivery of humanitarian supplies to Aleppo, the Defense Ministry said. 'Tragedy' for Norway after boys deface 5000-year-old rock carving of skier : A 5000-year-old rock carving in Norway which depicts a figure on skis has been "damaged forever" by youths who claim they were trying to improve it.

The two alleged vandals said they had been trying to repair the historical site by carving over the outline of the figure to make it easier to see – but local officials described their makeshift restoration as a "tragedy" for Norway's cultural heritage. Know more

Muslims attend Mass : Muslims across France have attended Catholic Mass in a gesture of solidarity after the murder of a priest on Tuesday.

Fr Jacques Hamel was killed in his church in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray near Rouen by two men who had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group.

France's Muslim council, the CFCM, urged Muslims to show "solidarity and compassion" over the murder. Know more

Olympic sailing ramp in Rio de Janeiro collapses : The main ramp of Marina da Gloria, the sailing venue of the Rio de Janeiro Olympics, has partially collapsed, raising further questions about the quality of construction in the Olympic host city.

Philip Wilkinson, a spokesman for the Rio 2016 organising committee, said high tides and stormy seas on Saturday were to blame for the damage. The collapsed structure, which is temporary, is the main access point for boats to reach the water. No one was injured in the incident. Know more

Australian athletes’ laptops stolen during Olympic village fire : A laptop and team shirts have been stolen from Australia’s accommodation at the Olympic athletes’ village while the building was being evacuated because of a small fire, the head of the team’s delegation at the Rio Games said Sunday.

Kitty Chiller said other computer equipment was “rifled through” but was left behind during the theft on Friday.

She said security seems to have improved, but called the theft “concerning.” Know more

Death toll in Baghdad bombing rises to 324 : The death toll from a suicide bombing in central Baghdad on July 3 has reached 324 and might climb further, Iraq's health minister said on Sunday.

The attack, claimed by the militant group Islamic State whose fighters government forces are trying to eject from large parts of the north and west, was the deadliest bombing in Iraq since U.S.-led forces toppled Saddam Hussein 13 years ago. Know more

The Games of the XI Olympiad were used by Germany as a tool for propaganda. to promote their ideology, and its promotion of the superiority of the "Aryan Race" by only allowing Germans of "Aryan race" to compete for Germany.
